Annual Womans Day Seminar Event
On the 18 August 2023 afternoon at 12:00, I was honored to be invited to the Annual Woman's Day seminar at IIE Rosebank College Cape Town campus as part of their media team as a 3rd year Journalism student. Our guest speaker Dr. Rone-Marie Keet, she explained and emphasized how important it is to have female leaders and managers in the academic industry, other fields, and in a boardroom full of males."Women can be the change in education by excelling academically and also thriving as leaders" - by Dr. Keet
Dr. Keet stated women should focus more on embracing their failures as stepping stones to growth, with this being said the key principles are to make sure you find your voice and amplify it. As female leaders, we are more likely to practice fairness and equality, and females are more empathetic towards choices that benefit everyone. " It's not just gender representation and together as women we will pave the way for academic female leaders". With these being said as a female individual you can always change your future at whichever age you are, always remember you are never alone and always ask for help when needed to gain more knowledge in your journey. Be unapologetically yourself regardless of anything that you are as a mother, student, sister, and friend.
Mrs Phodisho Kgwale - Head of Academics at IIE Rosebank College touched on finding a balance between being a mother and an academic leader.
Women have the capability to do more as multitaskers, It's possible to do everything never limit yourself, whatever you want to do start without hesitating or doubting yourself and your capability.
There will never be a straight balance, you just need to try to make time for everything when you can so that everything in your life can get equal attention. Always remember when to let go, you do not have to be in control of everything, it is normal to feel overwhelmed but just remember to always ask for help. Don't limit yourself you are very capable, Dream big and do it the Universe will do the rest.
