Masiphumelele goes down the drain in crime

In August 2023 in the Western Cape, police looking into deaths connected to taxis have detained two suspected hitmen and killed a third. A suspect connected to two murders in June 2023 in Masiphumelele and December 2022 in Khayelitsha, as well as a home invasion, was taken into custody on Thursday at Ocean View by members of the provincial taxi task unit battle team.

Meanwhile on Friday,18 August 2023, in a "drug house" in Masiphumelele, police found a sizable quantity of beer and cannabis.

An effective operation that targeted the premises of a well-known drug dealer was carried out on the evening of August 18. The raid was carried out by police, and significant amounts of alcohol and cannabis were seized. He said that several arrests were made because of the successful operation.

"This action demonstrates law enforcement's dedication to stopping illegal activity, maintaining public safety, and defending the rule of law in the community. “By working together, the police can keep the area safe and convey a clear message regarding the trafficking and use of illegal drugs. The police are commended for a job well done by the Ocean View Community Policing Forum.

Sgt Mfundo Nyengane, a spokesman for Ocean View police, verified that an unidentified quantity of cannabis was discovered. "During a raid on Masiphumelele home on Friday, August 18, an unknown quantity of dagga with an unknown street value was discovered.
